BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide — a fragment derived from a protein found in gastric juice — that has been studied for tissue-repair and gastrointestinal signaling, overwhelmingly in animal models. It is one of the most searched peptides online, which is exactly why an honest read of the evidence matters: the interest has run well ahead of the human data.

What is BPC-157?

BPC stands for "body protection compound." The peptide is a stable, synthesized sequence that researchers have used to probe healing-related pathways. In preclinical studies it has been examined for effects on tendon, muscle, and gut tissue, and for interactions with growth-factor and blood-vessel signaling. That preclinical breadth is what generates the enthusiasm.

How strong is the evidence?

Here is the part that gets skipped in most write-ups: the vast majority of BPC-157 research is preclinical — cells and animals, not people. Rigorous, published human trials are scarce. That does not prove it does nothing; it means the human evidence base is genuinely early, and anyone claiming settled human benefits is overstating what exists. What about safety and legality?
